Greetings,
In these challenging times, with both gas and food prices on the rise, an opportunity knocks — an opportunity to change our approach to a number of things we do, as a matter of course.
Take, for instance, the vacation. Because the St. Louis area abounds with inexpensive and free — yes, free — attractions, there’s no reason to think that you need to travel afar or spend lots of money to have a good time.
Once you overcome those expectations,  a whole new vista presents itself. How about visiting a local park you’ve never been to? Pack a picnic lunch or pick up some carryout food (those coupons you’ve been saving will come in handy here) and allow yourself to be lifted locally.
How about going down by the river — not to jump in — simply to watch the river flow. Feel its calming effect. Take a vacation from your busy “I should be…” thoughts and “Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream...”
If life is but a dream, why not let that dream be one that replaces all the nightmares with that which brings hope and joy and peace of mind — talk about a dream vacation! All aboard?
